The Ramco Cements Ltd enters into MoU with Government of Tamil Nadu for establishment of an Apex Skill Development Centre at Ariyalur

The Ramco Cements Limited Chief Executive Officer Mr.A.V.Dharmakrishnan and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation Mr.V.Vishnu, IAS, signed MOU on 19th September 2020,in the presence of Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr.Edappadi K.Palaniswami, for setting up an Apex Skill Development Centre (ASDC) for imparting high-end skill training in the Construction and Infrastructure sector. Apex Skill Development Centre (ASDC) to be established at Ariyalur.

Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development for the country and the states.

With the emergence of disruptive innovations and fast-paced technological development, it is imperative that the youth of the state are exposed and trained in state-of-the-art facilities meeting international standards and making them globally employable.

Ramco Group has ensured that over 20,000 students benefit every year through its 16 schools, two ITIs, polytechnic and engineering college, which provide education and training on par with global standards and with the best of infrastructure. Hence, Ramco Cements is well poised to shoulder the onerous responsibility entrusted by the Tamil Nadu Government, through the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), for establishment of Apex Skill Development Centre (ASDC) for Construction and Infrastructure Sector.

Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr.Edappadi K.Palaniswami, Honorable Minister for Labor, Dr.Nilofer Kafeel, Chief Secretary to Government, Mr.K.Shanmugam, IAS, and Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Labour and Employment Department, Mr.Md.Nasimuddin, IAS, and the Managing Director of TNSDC, Mr.V.Vishnu, IAS, have reposed the confidence on the capabilities of Ramco Cements and shortlisted Ramco as the Lead Implementation Partner for establishing the ASDC.

Mr.Kadirvelu, Project Director (Technical Initiative), of TNSDC, and Ramco team, have been instrumental in giving the final shape to the project.

The ASDC will be established at Ariyalur, for which Ramco Cements have come forward to alienate six acres of land for setting up the project.

URC Construction will be the Industry Partner and Ramco Institute of Technology will be the academic Partner in the consortium.

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) not only provides skill training to unemployed youth including school / college dropouts but also ensures skilling of the qualified youth to enhance their employability.

Tamil Nadu today has a robust skill development ecosystem and TNSDC is continuously striving to improve the same. TNSDC has embarked on an ambitious program to train over two lakh youth every year thereby ensuring TN becomes the skill capital of the country.

The Apex Skill Development Centre will have the following objectives

1. Providing high end sector specific skill development training
2. Engaging with industries and other stakeholders to design and develop industry relevant training curriculum
3. Create a pool of qualified and professional trainers
4. Act as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for the sector

Shares of The Ramco Cements Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs.691.5 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 722.65. The total number of shares traded during the day was 6340 in over 492 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 712.45 and intraday low of 690.2. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 4453163.
