This highlights the dependence of Rajasthan's economy on tourism as well as its potential for economic growth of the state in the future. Given the immense importance of tourism for the development and growth of State through economic benefits like foreign exchange earnings, creation of jobs, infrastructure development and promotion of local tradition and handicrafts, among others, there is an enormous need for investment in this sector.
The session will focus on ways to increase the potential for tourism in Rajasthan in a manner that will aid the sustainable development of the state. Rajasthan has a number of tourist interest spots located in areas that have thick forest cover. Development of tourism in these areas must be planned in a careful manner so as not to disturb the natural eco-system along with generation of employment for neighbouring residents. Some of the identified areas for developing eco tourism projects include the Sambhar Wetlands of Jaipur, Jaisamand Lake, Van Vihar & Talab-e-Shahi of Dholpur, among others.
The State Government is aware of the multiplier effect of tourism and allied activities on the economy and is committed to provide ease of doing business to the investors in Rajasthan. Keeping this in mind, the Government of Rajasthan is taking various initiatives to facilitate investment in the state. For instance, the State Government recently announced the Rajasthan Tourism Unit Policy to induce fresh investment in the state. In order to further facilitate, the department has prepared an investment booklet which is available for investors. The Rajasthan Tourism Policy will also be announced shortly.
