              Delhi Health Minister Mr. Satyendar Jain said his government is working to strengthen the city's network of 'mohalla' or neighborhood polyclinics along with the ASHA network to enable city residents avail medical facilities closer home at affordable costs. The Minister was discussing issues of concerns facing Delhi's health at the 2nd India Health & Wellness Summit & Awards 2015.
The India Health & Wellness Summit & Awards 2015, presented by Mother Dairy is an initiative by Blue Pen Media and HealthyDunia.com, the fastest growing health and wellness information portal.
"We are working to put all our resources in healthcare to the right use. We are establishing a network of mohalla clinics along with ASHAs to take first line of healthcare delivery closer to the homes of people. If we have good middle level clinics at the neighborhood level, people will be able to access basic medical facilities more conveniently at more affordable costs and will not need to visit hospitals for every ailment," said Mr. Jain while speaking at a session at the IHW Summit here.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Tourism Dr. Mahesh Sharma said with a tradition of ancient medicine India has much to give to the world and his government will try to help the medical tourism sector to leverage its economic benefits to the best of our potential. He emphasized on the need of preventive medicine and said the wellness sector including wellness spas have a lot of potential for medical tourism.
Mr. T Nandakumar, Chairman, National Dairy Development Board discussed a major initiative 'A Glass of Milk for Every Child' to be implemented under the aegis of the NDDB Foundation for Nutrition to provide a glass of milk to every child so as to address nutritional issues.
This year the IHW Summit focused on increased participation from the government and public health departments to enable a full-fledged dialogue between multiple stakeholders in the sector.
