Emerson has acquired Ameya Transmissions, a Pune-based premier manufacturer of gear operators and gearboxes. This acquisition complements Emerson Process Management's Final Control technologies used primarily in the oil and gas and power industries both domestically and globally. The acquisition gives Emerson an even stronger end-to-end product line offering for customers, including the actuation of manual valves via gears. The company has supplied nearly one million gear boxes to the valve industry in India since 1993.
Ameya Transmissions develops and manufactures a wide range of gear operators, including quarter-turn and multi-turn manual gearboxes, which are supplied to the manual valve industry. Gear operators and gearboxes are a critical component of automated valve packages to serve as a fail-safe in the event of a power failure.
"Ameya's reputation as a quality manufacturer is a great strategic fit for Emerson and strongly complements our actuator business," said Dr. Amit Paithankar, managing director of Emerson Process Management India. "This acquisition strengthens our portfolio with the addition of a strong gearbox product platform that enhances our current solutions capabilities for customers in India and around the world." Besides serving the Indian market, Ameya products are presently exported to a number of other countries.
"This deal makes great sense for both companies," said Mr. Rohan Pai, co-founder of Ameya Transmissions. "Our businesses complement each other and we have the opportunity to grow even further because of Emerson's global reach and commitment to excellence."
