US stocks lost ground on Monday - Standard Chartered Securities

US stocks lost ground, with each of the major indexes falling for a fourth straight session, as investors were hesitant to make new bets ahead of an expected shift in Federal Reserve policy that could lead to higher interest rates.

European stocks ended lower led by Italian shares as reports of a rift opening up in Rome's coalition government triggered some profit taking on the region's best-performing index in the past month.

Asian shares opened lower under a cloud of uncertainty about when the US Federal Reserve will start to reduce its stimulus, which pushed up yields on US Treasuries to two-year highs.
