Aided by strong global cues after assurance from the US Federal Reserve that it would not roll-back the monetary stimulus in the short-term and recovery in the Indian rupee, markets staged a strong performance in the fourth trading day of the week.
Nifty closed at 5935.10, up 118.40 points or 2.04 percent and Sensex climbed 381.94 points or 1.98 percent to shut shop at 19676.06.
All sectoral indices, except Consumer Durables Index, ended in green gaining between 0.55-3.00 percent.
