HCL Technologies Releases New Innovation Model for ISVs at Software 2007

HCL Technologies Ltd on May 15, 2007 has announced a new approach to providing transformational solutions to ISVs in order to drive innovation. At Software 2007 held last week in Santa Clara, Calif., the Company unveiled its new innovation model for ISVs, which is based on four "pillars of Innovation" - business, service, technology and process. Together with the Company's deep domain experience, strong industry partnerships and experienced personnel, the new innovation model will be an important factor in the success of ISVs.

Commenting on this initiative, Sandeep Kishore, Senior Vice President, Hi Tech and Manufacturing, HCL America, Inc (wholly owned subsidiary of the Company), stated, "ISVs typically rely on innovation on four levels - business models, service delivery, technology incubation and process improvements. We have built a proven system to drive innovation across these four areas, incorporating output-based pricing, business-ready services, techno-prenurial centers of excellence and customized collaborative processes. Innovation across these pillars coupled by our deep domain expertise will ensure our customers derive significant value from our transformational services."

At Software 2007, Kishore moderated a breakout session panel discussion on "The Process of Innovation," featuring George Lotridge, VP engineering of RSA, the security division of EMC, and Vasanthan Dasan, CTO of the services division of Sun Microsystems. Discussion focused on the complex nature of innovation in today's business environment, touching on how innovation is best channeled within an organization. The phenomenon of "smart risk taking" - the combination of applying innovation to an existing problem and measuring the return based on anticipated investments - was also a key area of the panel's discussion.

Other points mentioned in the panel discussion were that innovation often comes from unknown places, and organizations need to embrace that fact and build upon it. At the same time, this openness must be complemented with an idea generation process, in order to support a positive climate of innovation. Also, panelists discussed the need for a source of innovation within a Company - a problem to tackle and a goal to achieve - in order for it to truly foster. In addition, clarity of vision was also cited as critical in the cycle of innovation. Equally important is a leader with the ability to clearly communicate his or her vision, and a team who stands behind that vision.
