Like many management professionals who turned writers in the last couple of years, Siddarth Bahri, better known as Sid Bahri, used to be a necktie-clad executive in corporate world and now with his debut novel - The Homing Pigeons - is set to be a promising writer. About his novel, Dr. Shashi Tharoor says, "A remarkable novel by a first-time novelist of immense promises...often exquisitely rendered...exceptional achievement that deserve all the plaudits it is sure to garner."
Intolerable pain seems always to be at the heart of every love story. After reading pages of The Homing Pigeons, I was tempted to believe that it is autobiographical in nature as the author himself had undergone the troubles and tribulations of 2008 recession. However, Sid never claimed that the piece had an ounce of autobiography. The protagonist Aditya is in similar predicament - a jobless, penniless executive. The story takes readers on a long journey of 3 decades of romance between Aditya and Radhika. First the two characters meet at a bar and their lives took an unexpected turn.
Throughout its 328 pages, this novel will surely grip the readers to the last page. It took 5 long years for writer to finish this story, which surprises its readers with its sharp turns & twists. In his blog, author confesses that the two protagonists were not born at the same time in his mind. While Aditya was born in 2008, Radhika popped up in his mind in 2012.
I wish Sid Bahri all the best for his debut novel and am sure that his decision to leave his plush career was right as he believes that he writes to entertain and influence his readers to become better human beings.
