DPSC Limited (formerly known as Dishergarh Power Supply Company Ltd), one of the oldest power utilities in India is further strengthening its power transmission and distribution network in West Bengal and is developing a 220/33 KV substation at JK Nagar in Burdwan district.
DPSC on behalf of West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL) shall construct the entire Transmission Line that is expected to be commissioned in year 2013-14. The total project cost has been estimated around Rs. 117 crore.
A new 220 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line with a route length of approx. 15 KM is being constructed in the district of Burdwan (from Mangalpur to J K Nagar Substation) which will in turn be connected with State as well as National Grid by means of Single Circuit Loop in Loop out arrangement of existing 220 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line of WBSETCL between Santaldih Thermal Power Station of WBPDCL and Durgapur 220/132/33 KV Substation of WBSETCL. The Transmission Network along with sub distribution system will be capable to deliver around 250 MVA of power from grid and additional power from other sources after completion of the entire project.
"This project will further help in strengthening our T&D network, which is already considered one of the best by all industry standards. On commissioning of the substation, power will be available at the door step at Raniganj and adjourning areas which will attract set up of new industry in the coal belt and improve the industrial foot print in the State of West Bengal," DPSC Ltd, Chairman, Mr. Hemant Kanoria, said.
