Hero Honda Motors Ltd sales up 4.86% in April 2007

Hero Honda Motors Ltd yet again reported better-than-industry performance with 4.86% growth of sales in April'07 over April'06 - Continues the good run of market share gain for the fourth consecutive month, market share in motorcycles crosses over 50 per cent New Delhi, May 1, 2007: Hero Honda Motors Ltd. (HHML) , the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has reiterated its undisputed leadership in the Indian two-wheeler industry with impressive sales numbers in April 2007-08.

The company sold 2,62,544 units during the month, a growth of 4.86% over April 2006, thereby once again bucking the industry trend. HHML's two-wheeler sales in the corresponding period of 2006 were 2,50,366 units. With this, HHML's cumulative sales for the period January-April 2007 have gone up to 11,18,528 units.

According to Mr. Anil Dua, Vice President (Marketing & Sales), HHML , "We have been consistently doing better-than-industry numbers for the past few months, and this momentum has continued in the first month of the new financial year as well. This has ensured consistent market share gain, as a result of which our market share in motorcycles has crossed 50 per cent. We expect to keep up this growth momentum in the coming months."

In the month of March, HHML had launched the latest addition in its portfolio - The New Achiever with alloy wheels. It has received a very encouraging market response and will help Hero Honda to consolidate and gain market share in the premium segment, where it has been very successful with the recently-launched CBZ X-treme and the New Karizma. This is in line with the company's strategy for aggressive top line growth through market share gain across every segment. The new CD Deluxe and the new Glamour, both launched last year, have been reporting impressive sales numbers, thus consolidating the Company's market share in the respective entry and deluxe segments.
