MicroGraam, a leading social enterprise, has initiated "Make a Mother Happy Campaign"- as an endeavour to support needy women in rural India. The campaign is all about recognizing and appreciating the work done by mothers in rural areas and empowering them by investing in a micro loan in their name. Micrograam is reaching out to the general urban population including working women professionals and young mothers.
MicroGraam is conducting several events and activities centered on the theme of empowering rural mothers as part of this campaign. The proceeds will be used in various ways - to buy dairy cows and sell their milk for additional income, starting a new business, to build toilets and water heaters for their families, to support existing businesses of sari weaving.
MicroGraam has partnered with a large number of non-government organizations (NGOs) on the ground to identify deserving and credit-worthy borrowers and assist with disbursing loans and collections. The aim is to raise Rs10 lakhs through this campaign.
"We are aiming to target women's hospitals, infant's clothing stores and specialty maternity hospitals for partnerships as well as opportunities to display MicroGraam gift cards and lend systematically through payroll giving. One of our guiding principles at MicroGraam is to only give loans for activities that have a direct or indirect link to income generation. This helps to ensure that the funds are used for productive purposes with the potential for life-changing impact", said Mr. Rangan Varadan, Co-founder & CEO, MicroGraam.
