TN Government orders sarees, dhotis for Pongal

The TamilNadu Government through The Tamilnadu Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society Limited has placed an order for sarees and dhotis to be distributed for the harvest festival Pongal in January.

The order has been placed with Surat based company Sumeet Industries Limited. The total order value is Rs.50 crores.

The company has been given order for 35,00,000 nos. of synthetic sarees worth Rs.41 crores and 10,00,000 nos. of dhotis worth Rs.9 crores.
