upply of Fertilizer to states in February Exceeds Target

The supply of urea to the States has surpassed the target during the month of February 2007. About 19.44 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) of urea was despatched to the States against the target of 15.33 lakh MT making the availability of urea to the tune of about 27.65 lakh MT for the month. The availability of urea was satisfactory in all the States. With the sale of 111.61 lakh MT urea during Rabi 2006-07 upto February 2007 as compared to the sale of 100.54 lakh MT in the corresponding period of the previous year, the rise in sale has gone up by about 11.01 per cent.

The availability of the decontrolled fertilizers i.e. DAP and MOP during this month had been 10.62 lakh MT and 4.14 lakh MT respectively, which was also adequate to meet the demand of the States.
