BSE Sensex lost 1.28% this week

BSE Sensex closed down by 1.28% during the week due to profit booking at higher levels. Sensex closed at 10110.97 on February 10, 2006 and closed at 9981.11 on February 17, 2006. Sensex hit an all-time high of 10195.42 on February 16, 2006 and touched a low of 9970 on February 17, 2006.

The Sensex lost 225 points after touching the high on Thursday. Profit booking pulled the indices down and the outstanding position in the market is at a high of Rs.40000 crores.

The uncertainty about the budget implications also weighed on the markets. But, the huge inflow into mutual funds in the past few weeks should help the market bounce back after the profit booking.
