Movement of container trains by private operators

The private container train operators can now seek permission, any time through out the year, to run container trains on India Railways. It may be recalled that such permission by Railways to run container trains by private operators was open earlier, only for a month and the private container train operators were facing difficulties in completing the process of applying for permission within the stipulated period.

The General Manager, Northern Railway shall act on behalf of the concerned railway administration, for the purpose of entering into an agreement with the concerned private container operator. The Indian Railways’ (permission for operators to more container trains on Indian Railways) Amendment Rules, 2007 have been amended accordingly.
