ABB launches anti-bacterial switches and sockets to keep surroundings safe

Posted On: 2020-07-07 22:23:13

ABB introduces its ABB Tvisha range of switches and sockets, an innovative solution that helps users to keep bacteria at bay.

Given the high risk of infection spread via surfaces, this product range has been developed with anti-bacterial properties, keeping light switches and sockets free from bacteria. Made for residential as well as commercial use, the complete range of antibacterial products is manufactured adhering to the guidelines of ISO 22196 and kills 99.9 percent of bacteria.

Switchboards are an accessory frequently used by multiple people during the day, and thus a surface with a very high probability of collecting bacteria, allowing the spread of infections. With institutions such as hospitals and laboratories needing highly sanitized surfaces and the desire to make homes as safe as possible, ABB Tvisha is a much-needed product minimizing the risk of bacterial exposure across its users.

Commenting on the launch of the new innovative range, Mr. CP Vyas, President - Electrification business, ABB India, said, "Buildings of the future are designed with technologies that help people feel safe and comfortable in their space, and this is what we are trying to achieve at ABB. We believe that the ABB Tvisha range will be one of the defining solutions that will shape how we live in the future as we increasingly rely on buildings and homes to ensure a modern, healthy lifestyle."

Manufactured in India, this progressive range of switches and sockets offers a plethora of features, including a switch mechanism with silver contact tips to reduce spark and an internal arc shield, providing added safety. Moreover, this product range features switches with double shrouds, sockets with separate shutters, a universal regulator with 360-degree rotation, USB charging and HDMI ports to provide additional functionalities.

Anti-bacterial additive compounds have been incorporated in ABB Tvisha based on silver ions which inhibits the growth of bacteria on frequently touched switches and cover frames. These additives impart bacteria controlling properties on plastic surfaces, are non-migratory and non-toxic in nature and are food grade as well as ecologically safe.

Shares of ABB India Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs.960.8 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 983. The total number of shares traded during the day was 10021 in over 1038 trades.
