The Board of Directors of CENTURY Textiles and Industries Limited at a meeting held today noted with profound sorrow the sad demise of its respected Chairman Shri B.K. Birla on 3rd July, 2019. Shri B.K. Birla was an eminent industrialist, a passionate philanthropist and an avid educationist. The Board recalled his legendary stewardship over several decades and applauded his stellar contribution to the growth of the Company.
From a single plant textile mill in 1951, the Company has today evolved to become a well-diversified conglomerate. Shri B.K. Birla has been the key architect of the group's growth strategy spanning seven decades. Under his leadership, the Company diversified into cement, paper and real estate.
Beyond business, his legacy extends to the fields of education, art and culture. In his sad demise, our Company has lost a great visionary and our country has lost not just a tall business leader, but also a great philanthropist.
The members of the Board elected Shri Kumar Mangalam Birla as the Chairman of the Company with immediate effect.
Shri Kumar Mangalam Birla said, "It is an honour for me to Chair a company that was so ably led by my legendary grandfather. His exemplary standards of ethics and his values will serve as an inspiration to us as we carry forward his legacy."
