The Central Government vide notification dated 19th September, 2018 appointed Shri Karnam Sekar (DOB - 01.07.1960), Deputy Managing Director, State Bank of India as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in Dena Bank with effect from the date of assumption of office and upto the date of his attaining the age of superannuation (i.e. 30.06.2020), or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Shri Karnam Sekar has since taken over the charge as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank w.e.f. Friday, September 21, 2018.
Shri Karnam Sekar, aged 58 years, is having around 35 years of vast experience in Banking. Prior to joining Dena Bank as MD & CEO, he was working as Dy. Managing Director & Chief Credit Officer in the State Bank of India, heading the Highest Credit Committee in the Bank.
He had joined the State Bank of India as Probationary officer on 9th December, 1983. His experience in SBI has been in Credit & Branch Operations. He worked in various geographies including the North Eastern part of the Country. His earlier assignments include, the Branch Manager of the Corporate Accounts Group Branch, Mumbai (which was the largest Branch in the Bank in terms of the volume of business), and Manager (Treasury) at SBI Johannesburg, South Africa. He had also worked as Chief General Manager in Lucknow Circle which had more than 1600 Branches and more than 16000 employees.
